CSY 33 Midships Cleats?
« Reply #15 on: October 29, 2009, 05:26:35 am »
I got various sizes dock lines. The primary ones are 3/4" three strand nylon, then some odds and ends..5/8"s are probably okay in your area.

In Florida the sun beat down on the nylon and it gets weaker after a few years.
Seen quite a few lines snap..

Makes sense; I thought about 3/4", though when I built the lines, I thought I had a 16,000-lb boat, not a 22,000-lb monster.  :)

...It was steady 34 gusting 52 knots about 2 miles away the other night - so not quite a hurricane  :)  - but we're pretty well protected where we are, tucked into a nice bay with a point of land (and a 53' Bayliner  :) ) to windward.

All those extra cleats that Dag & the owner before him installed, got my son and the former Rhapsody through 4 named storms this season in New Orleans, 3 of them with hurricane force + winds.  Not a single cleat pulled out or got loose and the boat came through without a scratch.
