Engine Raw Water Siphon Release
« on: September 10, 2009, 10:36:08 PM »
Last week we talked with a new cruiser anchored in Costa Rica that had just flooded his engine with 1.5 gallons of salt water, probably because of the lack of a siphon release and a high loop in the raw water cooling line on his engine.

... another feature of this modification is that you can actually hear when your raw water impeller goes bad. When the water stops pumping through the tell tale in the cockpit drain the sound will change. It is one of the easiest and most useful changes you can make to the boat / engine.
I tried having a bad day once but I did not like it

Warren,

I have no pics in the Workshop section of our website, and I don't think that I've taken any.

That sounds like a nice, easy and cheap mod.
