I have been staring at my engine space for 2 years wishing I could have all the space those water tanks occupy in the engine space.

Good to hear you are working on that boat.
 
I added a new custom aluminum fuel tank a couple of years back which I documented with pics and a description on our website.

Since Jim returned I have been talking to him regularly and of course I have photo documented every inch of his boat.
Today I spent an hour laying in the engine room marveling at the space. Using modern tankage I expect to have 200 gallons of water and 120 gallons of fuel with plenty of room left over for other systems. I am working on a rough draft design for the space now.
I am pretty happy with the progress so far.

Would love to see some pictures of what it looks like without tanks.I am planning on doing something similar in order to relocate my generator that is currently mounted over the main engine.It works but is crowded.

I will get some pictures out of the generator installation soon.It is a 5.5KW Next Generation unit.Come to think about it cutting out the tanks and installing smaller ones may give me plenty of room and I may be able to leave the genset where it is.

Here are some pictures of the frame and generator.There is clearance around the frame to do all normal maintenance including valve adjustment.I have also pulled the header tank and replaced it.The main problem with the installation is access to the port side.Opening up the tanks and installing smaller ones should give me the clearance that I am looking for.
