Replacing Rear Seal on Perkins 4108
« on: October 27, 2020, 07:57:54 pm »

We are replacing the rear seal on our Perkins 4108. I'm curious if any of the other 37 owners out there have tackled this job.

If so, what approach did you take for tilting the engine to remove the engine mounts from the bellhousing?

We are planning on approaching the job from the top and using the rear lifting eye to hoist the engine and then put in some safety bracing underneath. Most people with other boats jack from the underneath for the tilt; however, I cant figure a way that would work given that the shaft is right there.

Appreciate the experience of anyone else out there!
