Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

If it's a walkover, per my documentation, gross tonnage-22grt, net tonnage-16nrt. I have managed to find a wealth of info on our website and on line. Would be difficult restoring an old boat without the internet.

Hi Edward, welcome to the group!

Our CSY 44 Walkthrough was 23 Gross 20 Net.  I don't know if there was a difference between the WT and WO's.

The carpenter's certificate from the factory that we have (not for our boat) has the dimensions as 44ft 4 inches.  13ft 4in breadth and 8ft 6in depth (NOT DRAFT, BUT INTERNAL height).  This is what is used to compute the gross and net tons.

Pick a number and run with it!

Hi guys and thanks for your reply’s. Yes it is a walk over. How important is it to get these numbers right as I have 2 different sets of numbers. I assume all these 44 would be the same or at least all the walk overs. Ed

I should have put this info in the first post. Serial # TXY4440160477. Does that mean it’s hull # 160. The boats name was EL SABOR.

Edward,

Here is a long thread on CSY Hull numbers:  http://csyowners.com/forums/index.php?topic=306

Read through it and you will learn a lot about identifying the hull number of your boat.

Based on that number, I believe your boat must be Hull # 16.  I have El Sabor in my database, but with no hull number information, and not much else than it was for sale in Bonaire in 2008.

Though there was some inconsistencies in the hull numbering system by CSY over the years, the last 4 digits have always been MMYY, representing the month and year that the hull was STARTED.  So that zero in 160 is actually part of 04 (April) of 1977.

That would make your hull number 16.  You can try to confirm this by pulling out some drawers and seeing if there is a number written on the bottom of the drawers.  When CSY was in full production, all the drawers were marked with the number of the hull they were intended for.  However, if yours is #16, then they may not have been in full swing yet.

Hope this helps.

Also, a former owner of El Sabor was registered here under the username xpfenech.  Looking through his posts might be useful for you.

According to the discussions, the boat was dismasted and for sale in Bonaire or Cartagena.  Is this the boat you bought?  Are you going to rename it?  (if so, to what?)

If the number you have is NOT from the back of the boat, then I would suggest that your proper hull number is more likely TXY440160477 (ie, 44 insted of 444).

If you got it for $25K, could be a great deal, if you're handy!

Also, there was another boat dismasted in Venezuela, not sure if same boat, may be different boat...  But a long thread here on mast and rigging information for a CSY.

Good luck!
