Monitor Windvane Storage
« on: March 28, 2014, 08:07:11 pm »
Hi all,

I installed my Monitor wind vane in October of last year, just before setting sail for Mexico.  My aft deck set up includes an arch with solar panels and davits, as well as the Monitor.  The thing is, I don't currently use the Monitor in the Sea of Cortez, and it is always in the way when raising and lowering my RIB.  The next time I am down in La Paz, I plan to remove the wind vane and store it somewhere in the engine room.  The brackets will stay on the transom, so re-installing it should not be too much trouble.

Does anyone see any problems with this idea?  I figure it will keep the vane out of the weather and really make life easier, as I usually lower and raise the dinghy daily while cruising.

Comments?

Cheers, Bill

Hi Bill

I removed the storage box under the V berth to install a small holding tank for the fwd head.

I can now remove the "legs" from the Monitor, and store it under the V berth.
