Engines and Drive Train / Re: Exhaust Elbow - 4107 Westerbeke
« on: September 04, 2018, 09:11:55 AM »
Cleaned raw water system with Barnacle Buster concentrate 4:1.  Added to system until evidence of product exiting exhaust.  Let sit overnight and then flushed system.  Benefit result was 10'F lower in operating temp and increased raw water exiting exhaust. Did discover weak point in aluminum elbow in exhaust with small pin hole leaks. Replaced with all bronze set up and cleaned up connections etc. See pics below.

Thanks...Peter ..../).....

Looking for others experience that have replaced their exhaust elbow.  Mine is wearing through with slight leak and needs to be replaced. I see there are Aluminum, Steel, Stainless Steel and even fiberglass options for materials available.  Any recommended sources for these?

Beregina - glad to hear you have joined the CSY family. We have owned "JAZZ" a 37b 1978 #006 since 2007. If you have any questions concerning a 37 CSY I would be glad to help.

All the best.

Ken, I replaced my cutlass bearing on my CSY37B 1978 and I also have a 1 1/4" shaft.  Mine was a 2" X 1 1/4" bearing.

Hull and Rig / Re: Transparent hatches
« on: November 21, 2017, 08:10:32 PM »
Hatch Update - All hatches have been cut and an insert replaced with a "bronze" tinted 3/8" thick acrylic 19" X 19"sealed with butyl and stainless steel screws. There was a transition period to tighten and re-tighten the screws to seat the butyl and also to trim the butyl. Now all hatches are tight and leak free. A significant amount of light now enters the saloon, sleeping area and head.  To modify this entry during high sun, we snap on screens to help moderate this.

Hull and Rig / Winches - re-Chrome
« on: November 21, 2017, 07:46:58 PM »
I have some winches on my CSY 37B JAZZ where the chrome over brass is worn away pretty much and was thinking about re-chroming them. Has anyone done this? Any recommendations on vendors? Any idea on pricing? I am in Florida so in-state would be my first choice.

R&H Plating in Ft Lauderdale is a potential option from internet.

Any experience here would be apptreciated.

Hello all you CSYers! Hope many of you will be at the GAM 11/10-12/17 this year. We want to invite all to the annual CSY Breakfast at Memaws on Saturday @ 7:30 AM.

I will place a sign up sheet on the bulliten board at the GAM entrance. If anyone needs a ride - let me know.

I am looking for a source for a replacement or rebuild on the oil cooler. This is a combo cooler that cools the tranny and engine oil. It has developed a leak internally and  salt water is migrating into the tranny. Is it possible to rebuild these coolers?

Thanks ......Peter SV Jazz

I went with the New Found Metals port light. Should have installed soon and will provide pics. The folks at NFM were very helpful and provided everything to get the job done right.
