Ted, I am in the process of rebuilding or repowering my CSY 37.  Currently I have a 4107 Westerbeke 40 HP.  Did you remove and repower your boat?  Interested to talking about this with you.

Engines and Drive Train / 4107 Westerbeke - Re-Build or Re-Power - CSY 37
« on: February 21, 2020, 03:27:22 PM »
I am in the process of either re-building my 4107 40 HP Westerbeke or re-powering. Looking for recommendations from others on this from their experience.  My first step will be to tear down the locked up engine and assess the damage.

Look forward to anyone else that has experience in doing this.

Thanks,

Peter

Looking for recommendations, experience in re-powering a CSY 37.  My current engine is a Westerbeke 4107 40 HP - original engine.  So far looking at Volvo 50 HP and Yanmar 45 HP and 57 HP.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks...Peter

Engines and Drive Train / Re: PSS shaft seal in CSY 37
« on: March 04, 2019, 11:28:18 AM »
Bob, I own CSY37B JAZZ 1978 with 4107 Westerbeke.  When my PSS Seal blew out I decided to replace with the old stand by stuffing box on the shaft. In order to install this we had to pull the tranny and V Drive to gain access. As far as adjustment I am going to get under mine soon and try and service/maintain without removing or moving the tranny and V Drive. I will let you know how it goes.

Engines and Drive Train / Re: WTB Prop - 17 X 11 1 1/4” Shaft
« on: March 04, 2019, 11:22:18 AM »
Update:  3/4/2019 - I pulled the prop and had checked and is in close tolerances.  The pink in the bronze is observable but in looking for a used prop came up at a loss except to spend the $$$$ for a new. Decided to clean the existing one up and go with it now as I have a spare emergency prop if needed.

CSYERS - There has been a suggestion to modify where and when we get together at the GAM this year.  A suggestion has been made to change the venue from MEMAWS to SQUID LIPS RESTAURANT and to change from Sat AM to FRI PM after the seminars, music and cocktail party? Say around 6:30 PM.

What do you guys think?

Thanks...Peter

Engines and Drive Train / Re: Exhaust Elbow - 4107 Westerbeke
« on: September 04, 2018, 09:11:55 AM »
Cleaned raw water system with Barnacle Buster concentrate 4:1.  Added to system until evidence of product exiting exhaust.  Let sit overnight and then flushed system.  Benefit result was 10'F lower in operating temp and increased raw water exiting exhaust. Did discover weak point in aluminum elbow in exhaust with small pin hole leaks. Replaced with all bronze set up and cleaned up connections etc. See pics below.

Looking for others experience that have replaced their exhaust elbow.  Mine is wearing through with slight leak and needs to be replaced. I see there are Aluminum, Steel, Stainless Steel and even fiberglass options for materials available.  Any recommended sources for these?
