Hey Dave

Your table idea with a freezer underneath or storage.  We have to floorboards under there that give access to the mast base.  How did you make it work and still have the ability to get these up and have access?

Hull and Rig / Bouncy deck sections
« on: November 28, 2013, 04:02:43 pm »
I just had to replace the staysail anchor etc on ours.  As it turns out a 12mm stainless turnbuckle and saddle was used.  The only place we could get 12mm ones was the UK or Australia.  I had a machines shop combine a 12mm thread and a 1/2" thread so we could use a 12/" turnbuckle.  Ours goes into the deck through the chain locker with a backing plate as well and nowhere near the top deck above the v-berth.  I will say I know what you are talking about though, ours isn't bouncy but you can tell you it seems slightly concave from lack of support like the rest of the boat.  Still very solid.

Swap Meet / Original CSY Crosby Cold Plates

I have the original Crosby cold plates as we have installed dual Frigoboats.  I'm not sure if these are worth anything.  Does anyone know or might be interested in them?

Hull and Rig / New Windlass Installed
« on: November 12, 2013, 11:27:40 pm »
We have the new windlass system installed , what a job!  This is a 2900 lb Hector windlass from Italy.  We've heard very good things about them and the cost is very competitive compared to Maxwell or Lewmar and a much stronger unit per $.  The price we received on this unit was 100's less in fact than competitors models that were considerably smaller.

We have 2 lockers up front and have ordered a single piece of 300' BBB for our main rode and the windlass but would like to get a rope rode in the front locker for backup or if needed.  Any suggestions for strength, weight, cost effectiveness etc?  Experiences?  Also best recommendation for a swivel for our new chain and anchor? and for rope rode.  Models? Size? etc.

I've also put a detailed description of our whole system with pictures in our workshop on our site if anyone is interested.

We just gutted everything.  Wiring, plumbing, hoses, you name it.  Our engine room was completely empty.  I found that with 35 years of different owners it was much more advantageous and easier to replace everything.  To many uncertain repairs or hidden butt connectors etc that eventually would have caused us major grief.  We completely hid most wiring in the engine room by running through covered box conduit etc. Also relocated the main panel and changed it up to a panel triple the size of the original.

If you need any ideas or need help with it I have many photos of what we did in ours to maybe give you ideas or help out.

Just fired up the new panel and 12v system today actually.......whooohoooo!

Yes the boat sat for a few years and water dripping down the mast got the best of it around the mast itself.

Glad I could help....good luck!

OK Mike

I took a few pictures and did a few rough sketches for you to work with.  This should give you the basics and a pretty good idea of the original measurements.  I've put these both in this post for you.  Here is the link on photobucket if you need that as well.  Hope all this helps.
