Title: Atlantic Towers Arch
Post by: svsurprise on September 21, 2018, 01:18:24 PM
I've read the previous posts about experiences with Atlantic Towers arches and have noted that quite a number of 44 WO's have installed one.  Since a few years have gone by since the last post I thought I might ask for any current advice on purchasing and installing one.  Three preliminary questions I have are: Schedule 40 or 80? Mount on deck or side?  Offset legs?

It seems to me these boats just scream for an arch and I'd really like to upgrade the davits I'm currently using.  With a swim platform it's difficult to get the dinghy out and away while hoisting.  I hope to stiffen up the solar panel mounting configuration too.

Any advice is welcome.

Thanks in advance,
Don

Don, Not sure if you looked at Ocean Cowboy's davit system this summer. I plan on having it made taller, to get the boat higher off the swim platform, and also a frame made on top for lots of solar. Next summers project. If you liked it I'm sure the welder could make a copy and you could install yourself

Don,
Don't know your location or time frame. If you are anywhere near Ft. Pierce, Fl., Riverside Marine has an excellent welder, named Danny. He custom built a swim platform and a radar arch from heavy aluminum. An excellent job with all the bells and whistles. We couldn't be happier. Aluminum is lighter and cheaper and will outlast us. Swim platform was $800 and the arch an  astonishing $3000. We will never outgrow either. The regret is that we didn't do it sooner.
Something to think about.

Beautiful arch!  I'm located in Beaufort NC but leaving Sunday for the Bahamas and plan on making a last provisioning stop in Ft Pierce. If time permits I'll contact you while there.

Looks great, that project is next on our list.  We are out on the West Coast, or else I would give your welder a call.  I like how you integrated it with the Stern Pushpit.  Any more detailed photos would be appreciated.
