Title: Nett Weight
Post by: lhppl on May 08, 2018, 07:53:58 AM
Hi Everyone,
I have a CSY44 walkover, deep draft. I am trying to arrange a haul out and transport to my rural property. The problem I have is that most of the low loaders have a capacity of 16 tons. The specs for the boat is 37,000 lbs, which is about 17 tons. My question is does anyone know the weight (from experience). There is no point for me to organise a crane and a loader only to fine that it will be overweight and I will have to return it to the water and cost myself a lot of money.

Feedback would be appreciated

We hauled our boat (w/o 189) and the travel lift said it was 44k with not much water or fuel aboard.

Hi Lindsay,  I have not had my w/o weighed, but I am sure that it is much greater than the original weight considering fuel, water, supplies, spare parts and other things that have been added over the years, along with simply sitting in the water for more than 30 years.  Not a Clew is providing a good estimate here.
I would suggest finding a shipping company with a more heavy duty trailer!

It must depend on the draft. Not A Clew at 44,000 was a deep keel, now a shoal draft keel. My last haul out, fairly empty of fuel, water, and stores, shoal keel, was 37,500. So, these  boats are heavy, considering they are solid glass with no coring.

Something else to ponder. Weight also depends on the rig. As you know, these Kenyon  masts are very stout and very heavy. So a tall rig would add a substantial amount to the overall tonnage. I have a shoal draft and a short rig. again at 37,500 mostly empty.

Hi Lindsay, welcome to the group!
Is your boat the one formerly named Beaujolais with Hull Number TXY441861079  (Walkover #186 made in Oct 1979)?
Just trying to keep the owner database straight.
